Amira Guirguis

Dr Amira Guirguis is a pharmacist who gained her PhD in the in-field detection of New Psychoactive Substance (NPS). She is the MPharm Programme Director at Swansea University Medical School and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is the Scheduled Drugs Lead of the RPS (Royal Pharmaceutical Society) Science and Research Committee, a committee member of JPAG (Joint Pharmaceutical Analysis Group), RPS London North West, Research Strategy Implementation Group for Wales (RSIG), and a member of the RPS Medicines, Ethics and Practice advisory board. Her research interests focus on enhancing the in-field detection of NPS, training and education of healthcare professionals on NPS, and developing harm reduction interventions including establishing Drug Checking Services.
