Derek Davies

Derek Davies was born in Swansea in 1960. After leaving school in 1976 he worked in his father’s building firm as a plasterer. In 1995 he married and moved to Port Talbot, for which he has an abiding love, and is known locally as the Bard of Baglan. About ten years ago he developed a love of poetry, in particular performance and open mic poetry. He is a regular at Cheval Neath Poems and Pints in Neath. His inspirations include Manchester’s Tony Walsh, spoken word poet Harry Baker, and Wrexham’s Evrah Rose. He is a founding member of ARTwalk Port Talbot, which creates amazing street art murals. He has written many poems around the murals, including Seasons Greetings by Banksy, which sadly was removed and went to an art dealer.
