Kathy Hampson

Dr Kathy Hampson is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Aberystwyth University. She worked as a case manager in a large city Youth Offending Team while completing a PhD looking at the emotional intelligence of children who have offended. She then worked on a Welsh Government/Youth Justice Board Cymru project looking into the resettlement practice of YOTs across North Wales, before moving into academia. Her writing and research cover a variety of areas within youth justice, including systems/processes, resettlement policy and practice, the voice of the child/collaboration, Child First justice, and the effects of Covid on justice-involved children.
