Nine young talents from Wrexham have brought glory to Wales, clinching the National Futsal Alliance Anglo-Welsh International Championship after a thrilling 8–6 victory over England at the Score Centre in London. Our under-14 Welsh squad dazzled with their tactical brilliance and determination, overcoming their English rivals in a match that will be remembered for its intensity and flair.
The win was spearheaded by Osian Evans, who delivered an unforgettable performance with five sensational goals, earning him the well-deserved Man of the Match title. The other goals came from Kyran Byott, Kyrun Ruscoe, and Morgan Griffiths, showcasing the depth of talent in this excellent team.
Representing Wales
The FC United of Wrexham players were Kyran Byott, Osian Evans, Deiniol Evans, Keegen Barton, Morgan Griffiths, Dewi Williams, Kai Edwards, Ioan Morris, and Kyrun Ruscoe. The team was led by the dedicated management trio of Darren Phillips, Ethan Evans, and Andrew Ruscoe.
Reflecting on his incredible performance, Osian Evans said: “It’s an honour to represent Wales and win such a tough match. Scoring five goals was amazing, but it was a total team effort. We worked for each other, and to lift the trophy with my friends and teammates is a moment I’ll never forget.”
Heart and skill
Andrew Ruscoe, part of the management team, expressed immense pride in the boys’ achievement.
“From the very beginning, I told the lads to enjoy the occasion, don’t feel pressurised, and make sure they come away with magical moments to remember from this game. They did exactly that and more.”

Teamwork on top
This incredible journey was made possible by the unwavering support of the Wrexham community. Special thanks were extended to Adam Alfi, who purchased a minibus to ensure the team could travel. Robert Brassett was the event organiser, Saith Seren’s Chris Evans provided the music that lifted spirits, and Steve Griffiths drove the team down to London.
The game itself was a nail-biting encounter, with England putting up a strong fight. However, Wales’ sharp finishing, tactical awareness, and resilience saw them emerge victorious.
This was more than just a sporting win – it was a shining example of community spirit and teamwork, with Wrexham at its heart.
